7107 Flavours (not sure whether this restaurant is still around)

Filipino restaurants have been popping up everywhere in Singapore, saw the review on 7107 Flavours in Time Out Singapore and decided to give it a try since it's near our office.

This is our first taste of Filipino cuisine, not sure what to expect, but from what we see at nearby shops, it looks like the usual economical veg and rice stall but the dishes are not as colorful.

The restaurant was packed when we went there for lunch on a Friday. We order the set lunch which comes with soup, main, dessert and drink. I think we paid around $12 per set.

 Soup

Clear soup with some prawns and vegetables, super sour :(

Main Course

Stir-fry Tang Hoon, taste just like normal cze char

Chicken curry set. This taste more like the Thai Green Curry style, very thick gravy and strong coconut taste.

Stewed chicken with soy sauce, very salty

Pan-fried Mackerel in garlic soy sauce. The garlic is actually quite fragrant but it is way to salty.

Drink

Calamansi - normal syrup drink

Dessert

This yam ice-cream is more like coconut ice-cream as the yam taste is not very strong. But I think it's yummy! I guess it's because I always have a soft-spot for coconut ice-cream.

Verdict

Good try, new experiences for the taste-bud but too strong for my taste. The lady boss advised that we should ask for less sodium. Considering the dishes are similar to the usual economical rice, will probably not try it again in the near future.
