Trivial Facts
Basil leaves not only smells good, it has an anti-inflamatory properties which can help to cope with infections, tissue injury and improve immune system.

Buy potted basil plants instead of the loose prepacked ones as you not only get the freshest leaves but you get fresh leaves every couple of weeks. But remember to transplant the plant to a bigger pot to encourage growth.
